Spell Hive is a friendly spelling bee. The game reads a word aloud along with a sentence that uses it, and shows a short meaning as a clue. Children type the spelling and see exactly which letters they got right. Words are grouped by difficulty, from short everyday words to tricky ones like 'necessary' and 'rhythm'.
How to play
- Tap the big speaker button to hear the word and a sentence that uses it.
- Read the meaning clue if you need help.
- Type the spelling using your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then press Enter.
- If a letter is wrong, the correct spelling is shown with the tricky letters highlighted.

Tips for learners
- Break long words into syllables: Wed-nes-day, beau-ti-ful.
- Remember 'i before e except after c' works for many words, like 'receive', but not all, like 'weird'.
- Listen to the word more than once. It helps.
- If your device can't speak, the meaning clue and first letter will help you.
