Kirana Counter puts children behind the counter of a neighbourhood kirana shop. Customers buy everyday items and pay in rupees, and your job is to count out the exact amount or give back the right change using coins and notes. It builds real-life money skills: adding up, making change and choosing the fewest coins.
How to play
- Read what the customer needs: either 'Pay ₹X' or 'Give change from ₹Y'.
- Tap coins and notes to put them on the counter. Tap one on the counter to take it back.
- Watch the running total. When it matches, press Give.
- Early rounds use coins up to ₹20. Later rounds bring notes and change from ₹100, ₹200 and ₹500.

Tips for learners
- To give change, count up from the price to the amount paid: ₹37 → ₹40 is ₹3, then ₹40 → ₹50 is ₹10.
- Start with the biggest coin or note that fits, then fill in with smaller ones.
- Using the fewest coins and notes earns a bonus.
- Real shopkeepers check their total before handing it over, and so can you.

Kirana Counter is part of Gamlet Learn, free learning games for children. It is designed for ages 6–11 and plays in short rounds that get gradually harder, with gentle feedback and a fact after each answer. There is no sign-up and we don't collect children's personal data. Scores are saved only on this device.
