India Map Master

Indian History Ages 8–14

India Map Master is a geography game about India's 28 states and 8 union territories. It uses a tile map, where each state is one tile placed roughly where it is in India, so the regions are easy to see. Rounds go from finding states by name, to matching capitals, to locating famous places like Kaziranga and the Konark Sun Temple.

How to play

  1. Read the question at the side of the map.
  2. Tap the tile for the state or union territory.
  3. If you miss, the correct tile glows.
  4. Rounds go from state names, to capitals, to famous places.

Tips for learners

  • This is a tile map: each tile is placed roughly where the state is, but sizes and borders are not to scale.
  • The north-east has eight states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
  • Punjab and Haryana share the same capital: Chandigarh, which is also a union territory.
  • Learn neighbours together. Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka meet in the south.
